The Ground
You don’t get many sites as picturesque as Hanley’s Farm to construct a playground on. Located near Jack’s Point, Queenstown with views of The Remarkables and Coronet Peak, Playground Creations enjoyed the opportunity to be part of the team who bought this adventure-themed play space to life.  We would like to acknowledge RCL Henley Downs for investing in an incredible play space at Hanley’s Farm, Tina Dyer and Kathryn Holyoake from Park Central for the unique design, Stantec for the Civil Engineering, and Site Construction Whitestone Contracting. 

The Park Central design vision for this adventure playground was to provide graduated play in a universal play space that encourages recreational activity and enjoyment for residents and visitors alike. Hanley’s Farm playground sits at the centre of this new park designed by Blakely Wallace Associates and is surrounded by BBQ facilities, seating, and shaded areas.

The Creation
From oversized seesaws to hidden ice caves, a hammock circle for star gazing to a DOC-inspired hut, Hanley’s Farm playground has been designed for a range of ages and abilities. A vibrant and imaginative play space, tamariki can enjoy an exciting array of climbing structures, swings, tunnels, themed slides, a rope bridge, and a wheelchair-accessible inclusive carousel.

Taking inspiration from the playground’s remarkable surrounds, Queenstown’s glacial landforms are reflected in the slopes of this playspace, with oversized seesaws positioned on the ridge encouraging social movement. Climbing ropes offer tamariki good handhold support and mobility, while the palisade climber encourages children to scale to great heights.

A further nod to the environment is found in the natural and muted tones used on the playground, with the careful use of shapes and angles allowing elements of the design to only be revealed in certain places, conjuring a sense of wonder and an invitation to explore.   

The Play
Crafted to spark the creativity of children and offer boundless opportunities for exploration and enjoyment, this playground promises endless fun for local and visiting tamariki of all ages. Each corner of the space is designed to captivate and entertain, ensuring that every visit is a new adventure. Our dedicated team was proud to provide and install all the high-quality play equipment, creating a safe and stimulating environment for children to thrive.
