Bring your playground to life

At Playground Creations, we believe every space has the potential to create the magic of play. Our design and build process is collaborative, flexible, and built around what matters most – your school community, your budget, and your students.

With your vision, our expertise, and a shared desire to see our Tamariki learn through play, our design and build process can help bring your playground to life in five easy steps.

1. Let’s explore your space – free site visit

To understand your play environment, our process starts with a free, no-obligation site consultation. Together, with your team, we’ll conduct a site visit to spark ideas and tap into the unique magic of your space. We're also happy to meet with students and hear their ideas for their unique play space. After all, it’s their playground.

2. Create your concept design – collaboratively

We know that every site is different, which is why our flexible design service is tailored not only to your space, but your school needs and budget. Once we understand what it is you want to achieve from your playground, we prepare a 3D Design & Site Plan so you can clearly visualise the layout and play equipment to be installed. This design and site plan includes all aspects of your play space, from safety surfacing to existing trees, flow, shade, and future growth.

3. Provide creative solutions – within budget

We work within your budget, no matter how big or small. And, because we know every dollar counts, we offer competitive pricing, staged delivery to align with funding timelines, and creative solutions that don’t compromise on quality. We’re always willing to find a solution that fits within your Op Ex so children don’t miss out on the many benefits that play provides.

4. Custom make your playground – suited to your needs

The real joy of a playground is in seeing children’s imaginations come to the fore, so we take the same approach. Our team will design, manufacture, build, and install a playground that’s bespoke for you. We can bring through stories of the local region, incorporate Papa Tākaro – Māori cultural design, create playgrounds with a theme, or focus on inclusive or sensory play. Our team enjoys the challenge of working with you to bring a playground to life that has meaning for your community.

5. Full-service installation – all year round

At Playground Creations, we don’t just design and build your playground, we install it as well. Our experienced team will be on site, across Aotearoa, installing playgrounds in all seasons, rain, hail, or shine! We hold up-to-date Health & Safety certifications, including PREQUAL, SHE, and SiteWise Green and work safely, efficiently, and respectfully in your space.

And, once your playground is complete, we’re happy to help support you on opening day with ideas to make the big reveal of your new play space a memorable occasion for all ages.

New playground encourages exploration

Ngatea Primary School’s new playground is a true example of a community vision being brought to life. From student ideas to a visit to the Playground Creations workshop, this collaborative project created a space for all ages and abilities to experience the magic of play.

"At Ngatea Primary School, our vision has always been to nurture learning that empowers play, passion, and purpose. From the outset, we dreamed of a space that would truly belong to all our tamariki, a place that celebrated inclusive play, supported hauora (wellbeing), and encouraged exploration across all ages and abilities. It was incredibly special to have our students involved in the design journey, from giving feedback to visiting the workshop. That sense of ownership and connection has made the playground even more meaningful. It will be a taonga for generations of Ngatea learners to come."
